Our Mission

To provide meaningful real-life answers to middle and high school students in an effort to greatly reduce teen promiscuity; pregnancies, and sexually transmitted infections while encouraging them to achieve academically, emotionally, physically, and socially through a thought provoking & interactive curriculum. Additionally, through mentoring groups, the program is motivating adolescent mothers to achieve (MAMA) academically, emotionally, physically, and socially.

Our Inspiration

The inspirations for establishment of The Marvin & Juanita Smith Learning Centers of Excellence, are the late Drs. Marvin and Juanita Smith. Their love for people was exemplified throughout their lives, specifically during the 35 years that they served as Pastors in Los Angeles, California.

They demonstrated their love and concern for children of all ages and nationalities. That love and concern extended to families in foreign countries. “You are valuable.”“Love God, study hard, work hard, and aim high!”

Drs. Smith were great leaders and humanitarians who recognized that the youth they were motivating would become the leaders of the future. They lovingly mentored youth, both spiritually and academically, while inspiring good behavior, positive personal growth, and community involvement.

Goals & Objectives

Phase 1: Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (Three P’s®)

Help teens understand the full emotional and physical consequences of their sexual behavior
In addition to teaching the value of abstinence we provide information on healthy and accurate contraception; and factual information regarding STI’s—its contraction, prevention, & treatment
While teaching students the difference between true love and lust, we will also increase their knowledge of the emotional, financial, and physical responsibilities of especially teen parenting
